The De-Vista site is Now Open
Have you bought a new laptop or machine that came pre-installed with Windows Vista? Did you marvel at just how slow a brand new machine could be compared to the one you had been running previously? Didn't you just pay for a machine twice as fast or more? Did you think to yourself, "Is Vista really this bad?"
You're not alone.
Even though my older laptop has less features, less CPU speed, only one CPU core, 512MB RAM, slower IDE hard disk, it still ran circles around my Vista based laptop with dual core CPU, 2GB RAM, SATA drive, and better graphics. I had forgotten how I had begrudgingly slowed my own perceptions to match that of Vista. -- Alan Watts
I installed windows Vista when it came out, but after three months I side-graded to XP. There was little benefit in using Vista over XP. -- GooseTopGun
Once you saw how slow and horrible it actually was, did you run to install another operating system on it, only to find that there just weren't any drivers to be found?
This site was created after a particularly numbing experience "side-grading" a laptop from Vista to Windows XP. Simply finding out what hardware is in a laptop can be a daunting task. This site is here to make it easier.
